If you use Windows, the best choice may be Twitch Leecher, a free open-source program that is dedicated to downloading on-demand videos. You can get it from GitHub now. After installing it, you can follow the steps below to download any videos from Twitch.

Step 1. Open Twitch Leecher. You may need to select it from the Start Menu since this program does not create a shortcut by default.

Step 2. Click on the Search button in the top menu, and you can download Twitch videos through Channels, URLs, or IDs.

Step 3. If you want to download a separate video, click on the URLs and paste the Twitch video URL in the box.

Step 4. In the next screen, you can see the thumbnail of the video and click Download to start downloading the video. You can also paste multiple URLs in there to download multiple Twitch videos altogether.

If you want to download private Twitch videos, which are only for subscribers, you can click the twitch-logo-like button to login with your Twitch account.

As many prefer an online Twitch video downloader, I tested a few and find this UnTwitch website works great. Well, if the Twitch video is longer than 1 hour, you cannot download the whole video in one go with this tool. You can select the part you need to download or download twice or more times to save the entire video.

Twitch Downloader Chrome Extension

There is also a Chrome extension Twitch Downloader that allows you to download clips from Twitch with one click. It is also avaiable for Mozilla Firefox. After installing this extension, you will see a download button on the video player control bar to allow to quickly and easily download any clip you want. After serveral testing, I found it works occasionally, not as stable as the other methods.

Twitch Leecher work great but it can only download videos from Twitch. There is another free tool that allows you to download videos from Twitch and other thousands of websites. It is an open source tool YouTube-DL.

It is available on Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Let me show how it works on Windows PC. If you are using a Mac, you can refer to this post to configure it.

Step 1. Download the YouTube-DL.exe file on your PC and move it to the User folder (C:UsersYourName).

Step 2. Press Windows + R key and type “CMD” (without quotes) to open a command prompt, not elevated command prompt.

Step 3. Type “youtube-dl.exe [Twitch video URL you copied]” (without quotes) and press Enter. You need to replace the URL with the actual URL of the Twitch video that you want to download as the screenshot shows.

When the progress is complete, you can find the downloaded Twitch video from C:UsersYourName where you saved the YouTube-DL.exe.

It is also possible to use this open-source software to download videos on iPhone or Android phone, but that will be a little bit complicated. I will address it in another post.

How to Download Twitch Clips without Any Software

If you only need to download a few twitch clips, you need no tools but a web browser. You can follow the steps below to use Chrome web browser to download Twitch clips easily.

Step 1. Go to the page of the twitch video clip that you want to download.

Step 2. Press F12 to open Developer Tools. In the Developer Tools, click on the Network tab and select Media as the screenshot below.

Step 3. Play the video and then you should see the Twitch video clip MP4 file URL is listed. If you see nothing under the Media tab, refresh this page.

Step 4. Double click on the MP4 file URL to open it in a new tab. Then you can right click on the video and select Save video as…

I know many people using iPhone to watch Twitch videos, but they find it is tricky to use iPhone to download videos. Luckily, that shouldn’t be a problem for you anymore because you can use the Shortcuts app to download Twitch full videos or clips to Camera Roll on iPhone.

Step 1. Download the Shortcuts app, which is owned by Apple, if you haven’t.

Step 2. Get this Loader shortcut by opening the link with Safari.

Step 3. Copy the Twitch Video link or clip link and run this shortcut to get started.

You can also tap the Share button from Twitch to run this shortcut from Share Sheet. When the downloading is complete, you can save the Twitch video clip on your iPhone Camera Roll or iCloud.
